Situated at the entrance to Paradise Park, and perfect for a pint of local real ale, a family lunch or dinner or evening out and a game of snooker.
The Victorian building was originally built in 1860 as a stables and coach house for the Harvey Family who lived in Glanmor House at the centre of Paradise Park. Part of the character is that you can still see the structure of the stables inside the pub. The Victorian Coach House was converted in 1976 to the “Bird in Hand” pub.

Covid-19 Update September 2020
Hello everyone. Following the recent changes to the Government guidelines, the team here at the Bird in Hand have made the following adjustments.
As of Thursday 24th September, a curfew on opening times will be in place. This will mean our business has to be completely clear of customers by 10.00 pm. Therefore “Last orders” will be at 9.20pm and “Time” at 9.30pm. We must have everyone out by 10.00pm.
We really appreciate your loyal and continued support and although this is not an ideal situation we are sure you understand we must all adhere to these guidelines and ask that you please respect all requests our team ask of you. Many thanks in advance,
Nick, Neal, Steve and the team here at the Bird in Hand.
The number of tables inside has been reduced and this restricts the number of people that can be accommodated, so we expect these to get taken quickly. If you can’t get a table inside and the weather is fine, we also have many tables outside on the terrace and the beer garden.
We will ask everyone to join in and keep the virus at bay – sanitise your hands, sit at a table, and order from a member of staff. Sit only with your ‘household group’, and keep a distance of 2m or a minimum of 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable. The mitigations we have in place are sanitiser stations, screens, signs, floor markings and table service at well-spaced tables. Face coverings for staff and customers, except when eating or drinking, are now mandatory. We have increased our cleaning of surfaces, and will be asking you to scan the QR code or take a phone number for each group as required for NHS Test and Trace.
Lots of great meals on our menu from steaks to light bites and veggie specials. Our Sunday Roasts are as amazing as ever and also available for collection (phone 01736 753974 or message on Facebook to order).
You can book our snooker or pool tables upstairs for £5 an hour, ask on arrival or phone 01736 753974 or message on Facebook to book. Maximum of four players per booking.
We have BT Sport on our big screens.
There are a lot of changes but if we all consider each other’s safety then we will all have a really enjoyable time in each other’s company.
See you soon!
Nick, Neal and Steven

Review From Google – Tracy
“Love this place exceptional food (the ploughman’s being one of my favourites), great atmosphere, very friendly staff and a lovely garden to sit in when weathers nice. Had a roast today for the first time and it was one of the best I’ve had. I will definitely be a regular in the summer months.”
